Discovering Psychic Abilities
The discovery of psychic and mediumship abilities can be a journey like no other. It may be intentional, by accident, or gradual. Some may have had abilities their entire life and others develop later down the road of their life path. But then, like myself, you could have had them your whole life but never realized you were different from others until someone brings it to your attention. It is my belief that many experience it the same way I did. My journey to the realm of psychics and mediums began later in life. At least the realization of the abilities that were always present. I guess my guides got tired of waiting and decided to put my now best friend in my path to get the ball rolling. Let me explain, some time ago a co-worker walked into my office, and after that first conversation told me that “I would do”. For morning coffee and conversation that is. We both got to the office early and she wanted to be able to have coffee in the morning with the only other person in the building and start the day. But this was not the significance of our friendship. That came when we started walking on our lunch breaks and having conversations about the spirit realm and what we believed in. This was the start of my own self-realization and my abilities. Soon I started doing research online and found a free class with BearBridge Academy. This is where I learned all about how I am not only psychic but also a medium. The Dean at BearBridge showed me, in a way that I could not refute, how psychic I really am. Since this experience I have learned many things not only about myself but also about my family history.
For me, I would get glimpses of people growing up, but it would be in my mind’s eye and not a spirit standing right there in front of me like you see on TV shows and movies. I would have never thought twice about it being a thought that just entered my mind. I later learned that it is a thought if you were thinking about something that would relate to what I saw. If I just saw a woman in white standing there in the living room in my mind’s eye then it was a spirit. I also learned how to recognize when a spirit is nearby through a specific sensation in my body. Now, when I get this sensation it’s a spirit getting my attention because it wants to communicate with me. Usually it’s my main spirit guides because they are around me all the time and I have learned how to tune them out.
I had also realized that the vivid and inexplicable dreams that seemed just as real as my waking life were my loved ones visiting me. For instance, my grandmother paid me a visit shortly after her passing and while dreaming I said to her “You passed away. Your dead.” And she replied with “It’s all going to be okay”. I woke up crying because I missed her so much, but she was delivering a message about my uncle. He had always lived with her and we were not sure how he would take her passing but he has done great on his own. They come to make me aware of things we do not see. Like, when my father passed, we were unaware of how hard my nephew was taking his passing and dad was trying to let us know. Although Dad didn’t need to be so rude and wake me from the first dream he came in. When I said the same to him that I had said to grandma, about being dead, he rolled his eyes and woke me on the spot. He didn’t return until the next night. I soon learned my lesson and how to take control of the situation in the dream. He was able to point out which nephew we needed to keep an eye on.
I am now able to look back and see where intuitive feelings would often surface, nudging me toward decisions that proved to be the right choices. People normally call these feelings “that little voice inside”. You know, when you meet someone for the first time you just have this feeling about them. For me, when people talk, I just know things about them but didn’t realize this had anything to do with being psychic. That is, until I got called out by a teacher in one of my first development classes at BearBridge. I could find myself seeing moments as someone was speaking about an experience and experiencing emotions deeply tied to these events that I had no direct knowledge of. These come as visions inside my mind’s eye with feelings being experienced in my own body.
However, the realization that these experiences were not standard brought with it a whirlwind of emotional turmoil and confusion. Initially, I chalked these phenomena up to coincidence and active imagination. But as I was continuously shown that these instances were not just imagination or coincidence it became undeniable that something beyond the ordinary was at play. There were family members that expressed how they didn’t want me to continue down this path. This contributed to conflict within myself because of the varying reactions of those around me. Friends and family oscillated between disbelief, concern, and outright skepticism, leaving me feeling isolated and misunderstood at times.
Moments of doubt weighed heavily on my mind about whether to continue with my newly found lifepath, and I constantly grappled with the idea of just jumping ship to keep the peace. Yet, significant events began to carve a path toward acceptance and understanding of those who mattered the most. One pivotal moment was when my father passed. My abilities had now brought comfort to those family members that once showed concern. This experience was so profound for some that it solidified their acknowledgment of my psychic abilities. This event, among others, was a turning point that propelled me to further investigate and embrace what it truly meant to be psychic.
This life doesn’t come without it’s hurdles. One of the biggest for me has been imposter syndrome. It probably doesn't help that Hollywood portrays an exaggerated outlook of what psychics really are. What we see on tv is not what being psychic is really like. In order to help with hurdles I continuously seek understanding through literature, mentors, and connection with individuals who walk a similar path. These steps are what helped me to begin accepting my abilities and understanding that they are a part of who I am. Embracing these abilities transformed my perspective, allowing me to view them as a unique aspect of my identity that, when nurtured, could offer insight and guidance to so many.
Living as a Psychic: Challenges and Rewards
Being a psychic in today's world encompasses a unique blend of challenges and rewards that influence daily life. One major aspect is the impact on social interactions and relationships. Psychics often find themselves navigating conversations with heightened sensitivity, which could make them aware of unspoken emotions and underlying thoughts. This profound perceptiveness can foster deeply fulfilling connections, yet it also introduces complexity when managing conflicting energies or staying anchored in one's own emotions.
In everyday life, psychics may face an array of opportunities and obstacles alike. They can get immense satisfaction when using their abilities to guide individuals through personal and professional quandaries. Depending on the outcome this can lead to genuine gratitude and trust from people who feel understood and supported. However, skepticism and misconceptions about psychic abilities continue to pervade society, often manifesting as doubt or outright dismissal of one’s capabilities. Such skepticism can be disheartening and requires resilience and confidence to navigate it effectively.
Misunderstandings about what it means to be a psychic are common. Society often views psychic abilities through a lens of mysticism or fiction, leading to misconceptions that can border on stigmatization. This can create barriers in some social settings where openness and acceptance may be lacking. For many psychics, combating these misconceptions involves a continuous effort to educate others about the genuine nature and ethical practices surrounding their abilities.
There are also personal rewards that come with psychic abilities. Gaining deep insights into one’s own life and the lives of others can be profoundly enlightening. Aiding people with clarity and purpose is immensely gratifying. Psychics commonly reflect on personal anecdotes that illustrate the pinnacle of their experiences, such as moments where their guidance significantly altered someone's life for the better.
Yet, this life is not without its difficulties. The intense influx of sensations and information can be overwhelming, leading to emotional and mental fatigue. Ethical dilemmas may also arise, especially when the information perceived involves sensitive or potentially distressing issues. Psychics must constantly balance their moral compass with the desires and needs of those seeking their counsel.
Overall, living as a psychic in today’s society requires a delicate equilibrium between embracing the rewarding aspects of their unique abilities while adeptly handling the challenges and misconceptions they may encounter. Through resilience, understanding, and effective communication, many psychics find ways to thrive.

Equally critical is the practice of self-care and grounding exercises. Psychic work can be emotionally and mentally taxing; thus, it is essential to maintain holistic well-being. Techniques such as deep breathing exercises, grounding visualizations, and engaging in physical activities help in dissipating any negative or excess energy accumulated during psychic practice.
When developing psychic abilities, safety and ethical considerations must remain at the forefront. Always practice with respect and consent, particularly when involving others. Ethical guidelines ensure that the process stays safe, respectful, and truly enlightening for everyone involved.
Happy journey!
